Our main priority is helping clients make great architecture that serves their needs and responds in a vital way to its context and cultural surroundings. In order to do this and to further the studios own knowledge base we invest in a wide programme of research which enables us to be inventive and to find new and sometimes unexpected solutions to the problems that we are posed.
We work in collaboration with like-minded consultants in order to further our thinking and skill level and since our inception, we have always looked to develope concepts grounded by good research that have a light touch on the planet, are low in carbon and energy-use. We look to our research to help us and our clients mitigate the impact of climate change.
2-4 hs hw
Working with historical buildings is always a privilege and being able to reinvigorate two Grade II listed buildings within a vibrant regional high street for a Wealth Management company at 2-4hs-hw highlights how the restoration of these types of facilities can be undertaken with a modern approach.
The commission brief required the amalgamation of the two properties internally to provide one holistic workspace for the ever growing occupants.
Whilst doing this the opportunity has been taken to refurbish the exisitng facades so that they better reflect the original composition, proportions and detail of these 300 year old buildings.
The proposals will sensitively refurbish and remodel the internal environment whilst also providing additional useable floor area by remodelling the basement area into a conference facility.
The proposals have always been more about removing elements that have been added to the historic buildings over time rather that adding more. To this end the final design solutions whilst offering modern and flexible workspace are also more respectful of the original building designs.
